Compress PDF
Reduce the size of a scanned PDF so it fits under the limit of an application or email.
Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.
Compression
Pages are saved as images, so text can no longer be selected or searched. This works best for scanned documents.
How to use
- 1Add a PDF file.
- 2Choose a compression level. Stronger means a smaller file and lower quality.
- 3Press Compress PDF, check the new size and download.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the compression work?
- Each page is redrawn as a JPEG image at a lower resolution. Scanned documents shrink a lot this way.
- Will I still be able to select text?
- No. After compression each page is an image. Keep the original if you need searchable text.
- The file did not get smaller. Why?
- PDFs that are mostly text are already small. The tool tells you when compression would not help and keeps the original.
